Cymatics – the effect of Sound on Matter
Cymatics is the study of visible sound vibration and shows the transformational nature of sound and matter.
This can be demonstrated by using salt, sand, iron filings, or with water as is the best case with Singing Bowls.
When certain vibrations are played the water or other substance makes beautiful geometric shapes.

When playing a Hand Beaten Singing Bowl or Crystal Singing Bowl with water inside, the water will begin to jump into various patterns along the surface. It is also a lovely technique to top the bowl up slowly with water so it begins bubbling and jumping up out of the bowl. We call this effect the fountain bowl.
